Hi Penny Scout,

Just found your blog and LOVE those booties. Do you have directions or a link to directions? I'm moving to the Berkshires in Massachusetts and those would be perfect house shoes for cold winter mornings!

Thanks,
Natalie

The tipi is Urban Scout's. You'll have to ask him about it. He ordered it off the internet somewhere. All I can say is it made a cute and roomy little tent. The weather was dry the whole time we were there. You can read about Scout's troubles with building a fire in it and the dampness of the northwest climate on his blog. http://www.urbanscout.org/big-trouble-in-little-tipi/

the black walnut is an awesome idea, but you may want to be careful... some folks have allergic reactions to walnut husk juice and break out in poison-oak-like hives after prolonged contact.

but... if you're planning a primitive spa, does that mean you're going back despite not being sure if it's worth it?

my .02, it's worth what you make of it. my first rabbitstick probably would not have been worth it at all if it hadn't been for good luck in meeting people and the inspiration from all the examples of how people include stone age arts into their lives.

I love the tat, Penny. I have often wondered what I would mark my body up with if I ever got the inclination. A sassafras leaf comes to mind most, but I never thought about just the name of a place. I like it. Simple, honest, connecting.

I like the tattoo. I like that you did it plain and in roman lettering too. It seems less immediate yet more meaningful that way.

penny, your spa sounds rad!

re the last post, i've gone through many stages of severe food neurosis too and have found i really have to expand my definition of nourishment to realms beyond food and way beyond rules, and never beat myself up about what i eat (or feed my kid). seems like some of the folks who "get it" the most (imo) about human relationships with food blow right past the issues of diversity of our bodies, and wild/bioregional food. lately i love this book, full moon feast by jessica prentice.

i've experienced a very similar pattern of health issues, too, and arrived at the same self-diagnosis as kiva did for you. the things that have helped me most are good sleep, lots of bodywork, minimizing alcohol, and acupuncture.

let me know if you ever want to do some sort of trade for massage--a plant walk or something?
